So why has the newly installed kodi decided to write a log in such an obscure place?
$ ls -l /home/piglet/home/dhoworth/.wine/dosdevices/y:
It's probably a symlink to somewhere else. Like /home/dhoworth. So kodi is actually logging to ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log.
