Hi: Suse 9.1 on Asus K8V with AMD64-3400: My troubles started when I moved my CD-RW drive from the secondary to the primary IDE channel. (My hard drive is on SATA). Then I lost the KDE desktop icon for the Cdrecorder. I thought it would come back after cooperating when Yast said it found new hardware, and I Oked whatever it put before me. Then I went to install new software with Yast. I selected Mozilla, then it asked for CD 2. When I stuck it in the drive, it kept asking for CD 2. So I went to change the installation media. I deleted the CD drive that it had configured, then let it search for a new one. It then added the Suse 9.1 CD on URL cd:/// Now when I go to install software, I see only the packages that have been installed. I can't get it to show me the uninstalled packages so I can install new stuff. Also, Yast has mounted the /dev/hde (CD) device multiple times on /var/adm... and so the only way to get the disk out is to become root and unmount it manually. Things are broken. Yast appears to recognize the installation media, but does not show the available packages to install, only the installed packages. Any clues how to fix it? Thanks. -- ____________________________________ Christopher R. Carlen Principal Laser/Optical Technologist Sandia National Laboratories CA USA crcarle@sandia.gov
