On my SuSE 9.1 box, I used to be able to print using my Epson C46 printer, using the driver of the C42UX. Now, for some reason, it doesn't work anymore.
What does "Now" mean? I cannot guess what you have done until "Now". Do you still use Suse Linux 9.1 or did you do any update or what did you change?
Is this printer a locally connected printer or a network printer?
Whenever I have difficulty configuring a printer, I normally bypass YaST and
go to CUPS.

before you can use CUPS directly to manage your printers, you need to use
the lppasswd command to set up passwords.
Note that I agree with what Johannes says.
