I've turned off Show Previews, so I'll have to see how it goes now, but the Compositor one didn't make any difference.
To turn off the window preview tooltips, the ones that pop up when you hover over a task bar item:
1) Hover over an area of clear space in the task bar, 2) right mouse and choose Configure Task Manager, 3) select the Appearance tab, 4) uncheck Show tooltips, 5) click OK or Apply as you prefer.
Turning off tooltips worked and I'm finally rid of that nonsense. However, tuning off show previews didn't do anything. I still get all those small windows all over the desktop.
I would not call it nonsense, more "fancy stuff" i did not know exactly what you are talking with "small windows all over the desktop" Try switch off composer completely. using kde/plasma since a long time, always switched off the fancy stuff, no need for a machine for work. take care, at least at my tumbleweed version (not completely up to date) there is a bug, where the bottom line will be reduced in high when composer is off, and the writing there will be to high. you will run into it, only when you clear in your home directory .cache/ (the files:) plasma-svgelements-openSUSE_v0.5 an or plasma_theme_openSUSE_v0.5.kcache. (have not investigated this closer) or when you create a new user. you will find composer in systemsettings monitor. simoN -- www.becherer.de
