one thing that WILL create a headache is switching monitors, but again, if both monitors are "recent", this may not actually cause any problems. The root of this "problem", however, is resolution and frequencies -- windows
Actually, I find a monitor change easier to handle in linux than in windows. Once I had to switch form a 17" crt tube to an 15" lcd display of lesser resolution. Well, in windows I just got a small message produced by the lcd display telling me that it can not handle it: but the problem is how you convince a graphic only OS to switch mode, if you can not click anywhere at all, because the display is blank!? In linux, the same thing made X to fail and revert to text mode. Fire up sax2, correct, restart X. Done, 5 minutes. For the windows part, I had to borrow a monitor :-( (no, windows safe mode was unable to get more than the standar vga, 640*480) -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
