Hi All, I've just got to grips with autofs, and overall it seems fine. Is it my imagination or do nfs mounts run a bit faster when automounted? Now, in order to make access to the automounted fs's easier (not having to distribute lists of pathnames to users, etc) I made a directory in each home directory containing links to each automount. Therein lies my gripe: when that directory is entered (actually, even if it's just selected) each link target is mounted (or in the case of a CD, waits for a timeout.) Does anyone know of a way to stop this happening? Is it anything to do with FAM? Cheers Dylan -- Sweet moderation Heart of this nation Desert us not We are between the wars - Billy Bragg
