Would i be able to run different platforms on the same server install? (ie. Linux AND Windows) Or do i need two platform dependent installs for that? I know the user clients need to be different. But can a Linux OO and a Windows OO share the same "OO server install"?
Well, this isn't a client/server solution, except for the file sharing bit. In the scenario I was talking about, the local machine runs one binary that is physically located on another machine. It reads the binary as it would if it were installed locally, and executes it. The only difference is that openoffice consumes disk space on one file server instead of on n number of desktop machines So since the program is actually running on the windows desktop you would need the windows binary on the file server. That is possible even if the server is running linux, although you'd probably have to be sneaky about it (do a '-net' install on a windows machine and copy the files over is the first idea that comes to mind)
