There's two modes in vfprintf(), a 'normal' mode for the easy cases, and a 'slow' mode for everything else. It handles positional parameters, and some extra functionality.
The format string looks like it should.
The other way to enter the 'slow mode' is with the extra functionality. I wonder if TCL is setting that up.
Can you check these values in the debugger when the problem occurs ?
