I've been trying unsuccessfully to get KDE 2.2 working, using the rpms at the SuSE website. I've installed and reinstalled kdebase and kdelibs several times and I still have major difficulties: 1. I can't get kdm to start properly and enable logins. That seems to be related to the absence of needed files such as Xreset and Xsetup in the /opt/kde2/share/config/kdm directory. But I can't find those files in any of the KDE2 packages. I've sometimes been able to get kdm going, only to encounter a further problem: when I log in, I get some screen flashings and then am returned to the kdm login prompt again. 2. I don't get the startup sounds, which seems to be related to the absence of libsoundserver. But as far as I can tell, libsoundserver only existed in the beta version, not in the final release. 3. When I've gotten kdm running, if not working, I haven't been able to configure the background color via the Control Center. The Control Center shows the color as I set it, but the kdm screen itself doesn't. I suspect several of these problems are related to Xstart, Xreset, etc. Does anyone who's successfully installed KDE 2.2 tell me where the correct versions of those files can be found? Paul
