When you say you disabled the power saver, you have to be a bit more explicit when you say that. I have a EPIA,, one of the older versions 933 mhz and it is currently running sus 10.0 with the gnome interface without any problem. It is a bit slow but it works fine. I did the normal install and let the system pick everything up. After it loads the entire ssytem up and reboots the system during the installation. The first thing I do is to login in under gnome as root. There I start up YAST. I go to system, run level editor. The first thing I do is disable acipd daemon (I always get that misspelled). Reboot the system and everything comes up and run without a problem. Michael James wrote:
I can't get OpenSuSE 10.0 into X on a VIA EPIA CM266 chipset.
Running sax2 seems normal enough, it suggests 800x600@60Hz and I change that to 1024x768@75Hz (the monitor can do at least that).
But when I click on "Test", at best it doesn't work, usually it kills the system so dead it won't ping.
I know that the dreaded "powersaved" is death to EPIA systems, (if it ever tries to step the frequency) but I've got that turned off.
Anyone got any tips?
