Hi folks,
I'm new to the list - I've been 'listening' in and everyone seems very friendly and helpful.
;-)
I've a question concerning 'sendmail'. I'm am currently using 'pine' as my e-mail client, using 'fetchmail' to collect mail from my ISP and 'sendmail' to deliver it locally. I send my mail directly from 'pine'. However, I would like to start using 'mutt' - but as far as I can figure it out, I have to use 'sendmail' to forward my mail to my ISP for delivery. Despite many attempts to configure 'sendmail' to do this, I am having no luck. Could someone supply me with an idiot's guide to 'sendmail' please? I seem to be suffering from information overload and, as a result, confusing myself completely. What I need is just some basic steps to go about configuring 'sendmail'.
I am using SuSe 6.4 along with the SuSe 7.0 upgrade which came free with this month's edition of 'Linux Format'.
By the by - this is a great list with many interesting tips.
Thanks in advance for the help,
Regards,

Hi Stephen, there is a serier of articles in the Support Data Base at SuSE. You might have it installed localy. Search for "mail" or "sendmail", there is one article Offline SMTP Howto send mails to your provider. On my localy installed SDB it's http://localhost/sdb/en/html/smt_sendmail.html This and the related articles will give you a hint. Most of the stuff told there is now done by the SuSEconfig script, however you'd need to edit the files like userdb et al. happy hacking Juergen
