I'm running opensuse 10.2 on a new laptop with the ati X1400 card. I'm following the wiki on installing the fglrx driver (converting to rpm, then installing, then using sax2. But, it fails with the error message:
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
Fatal server error: no screens found
in addition, these are the only other errors in the Sax.log:
(EE) fglrx(0): PreInitDAL failed (EE) fglrx(0): PreInit failed
AHH, another victim! ;-) see: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=222993
Is anyone successfully running an X1400 on 10.2 .. if so, please post your xorg.conf, so I can try it.
xorg.conf is NOT the problem. as you can see in bug 222993, you have to switch off the framebuffer for console. so, no "vga=0x317" or anything else. here is my kernel-line from menu.lst: kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda4 resume=/dev/sda3 splash=verbose elevator=as showopts and voila, ati driver works! -- einen schönen Tag noch DI Rainer Klier Abteilung IT - Entwicklung ECOLOG Logistiksysteme GmbH Bauernstraße 11, A-4600 Wels Tel. ++43/7242/66200 Fax ++43/7242/66200-200 mailto:kra@ecolog.at http://www.ecolog.at -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
