Carlos, what exactly do you mean by "you can simply copy the image to a raw USB stick"? Essentially: dd if=image of=usb-stick
Refer to this for details: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Live_USB_stick
I asked the question because I have never attempted at putting the system onto a USB 'Schtik' but I have, of course, used CDs/DVDs for this purpose.
What you said above, ''dd if=image ...", I believe would merely copy the iso image to a USB stick -- which is what Carlos said to the OP to do -- but I have always _burned_ the image using 'k3b' to a CD/DVD so the copying bit intrigued me.
CDs and USB sticks are quite different types of media. CDs and DVDs come in many different versions, and require a special device for reading and writing. In comparison, the USB stick is, to Linux, just a plain read/write media. Hence, no special process needed for writing to a USB stick.
Now that I have read the URL you give above, I will create a bootable USB using 'imagewriter'.
I don't know what that does, but 'dd' or 'cp' will suffice. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (16.4°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
