The memory usage is lower, but has 1.9 gigs on swap.
It must be one component of the panel, though, not the entire thing. No idea how to find what.
strace -p 637292 2> >(grep malloc) cheap and cheerful, no idea whether it would show anything useful Or of course valgrind ...
