Hi all,
But how about the storage side? At one end of the spectrum you can have a single NFS/SMB server exporting the whole /home. While at the other end you could export each user's home directory individually.
Hi cifs fileserver to 2000 students sharing 110 Linux and windows clients. Even with a small number of clients, it's not possible for us to export the whole of home and have it mounted all the time. We had to use the automounter to get anywhere near. With decent hardware I get the feeling you could get away with the single mount. It is a lot easier. Our AD schema doesn't have automount.
