konsole is not frozen when plasmashell freezes. I use yakuake which is a special instance of konsole and used to restart plasmashell on freezes and other anomolies on Tw, which no longer occur (or I haven't observed for several months).
Open or not, I can't switch to it when the problem happens. I can click on open windows all I want but can't switch to them. The desktop is frozen. I can move the mouse pointer around, but nothing else.
