Having just deleted more than half of todays messages to the list because they were OT (although most not marked as such) I had an Idea,
Recently someone mentioned (on this list) that the SuSE-ot list is fairly low volume.
Since there seems to be no stopping people making OT posts and continuing OT threads on this list maybe everyone that subscribes to this list for the purpose of asking questions about and using SuSE Linux could move over to the low volume (OT) list and leave this list for those that really should be posting on the other list. No-one will be the wiser because if they were on the OT list where they belong they wouldn't be posting here.
To paraphrase Loydd Bridges from the movie "Airplane" "I chose a bad month to quit drinking" :-(
If anyone is interested (which I'm afraid they are not) The SuSE-Linux-e faq that we all recieved when we signed up had this to say about (OT) off topic posts...
A17. Sorry, we really have no choice. We've asked nicely over the years for people to take their off-topic threads elsewhere in the interestof keeping the messages per day on SLE under 200 and, well, that just didn't work. We now have a list, suse-ot, that's devoted solely to off-topic discussions. That's right, all off-topic all the time. Email suse-ot-subscribe@suse.com to subscribe.
This is really a great idea! :D I hope the people who post frequently here, mark a message as OT if appropriate, /and/ set the Follow-up header to suse-ot@suse.com. Cheers, Leen
