On my desktop I deleted the partitions / and /home in order to make a fresh install for which I used the Tumbleweed 20150227 DVD. The install went flawless until, after the restart, the standard wallpaper appeared without the default panel. What do you mean by panel? The one with the Desktop Folder or the System Tray on the bottom of your screen? The used names for these are respectively Widget and Panel.
You can create the Desktop Folder by Unlocking Widgets and after that Add Widget, which gives you a bar with the available widgets. In the text box you can enter folder which gives you one or more widgets in that bar. Click on the Folder widget and drag it on some free space on your screen. Hoovering above that widget shows you among others a wrench you can click on to configure the folder. You can choose the Desktop folder to be shown in there. When I choose Widget or Panel I get rectangles somewhere on the screen, and no more
By the way: I did this exercise of deleting partitions to avoid kwallet installed.
Trying to make a panel ended in a mess. Another trial with a newly downloaded DVD gave the same results. Has anybody a suggestion how to solve this situation? Thanks in advance. André den Oudsten
