I have online banking and I'm only able to access services with a Windows browser. How can I use Konqueror or Opera or lynx or any linux browser to access my online services?
Only today I had this happen to me. While a European bank I hold an account with has no problems at all with supporting any browser, my Colombian bank will currently support IE on Windows only.
I placed a call with the support helpdesk and wrote a letter to the responsible manager. If they insist in not changing their policy regarding supported technology for online banking, I will consider switching the bank and I will make sure they get to know why..
And also remind them, that IE is the most unsecure brower available. This means more potential security problems for them. They must *LOVE* those keystroke captures, when someone enters their bank ID and password.
They may care very little for security, just up bank charges and they're in the pink again. MS seems to have done quite a snow job on a large section of their customers, if there is a security breach, then someone has brought in something he or she shouldn't have. If someone is known to be running Linux, that person is a prime suspect. If you care to see the sort of drivel they come up with, go on over to http://blogs.msdn.com/ptorr/archive/2004/12/20/327511.aspx, it's entitled "HOW CAN I TRUST FIREFOX?", a "fur coat and no knickers" kind of article. I was quite amazed that he published my comment, they have no shame. Such an article must be reassuring to the intended audience as you never hear of Bill Gates and cohorts being harrangued over security problems and this gives them the gumption to carry on with the utter tummy-rot they get away with, they have perhaps hundreds of thousands more believers than thinkers.
