I do. One of my accounts with non trivial traffic is POP only. I use a fetchmail process to get mail from that account and put it into my local Dovecot server so that I can access it from my thunderbird using IMAP. it worked just fine. Not complicated at all. Then I thought about it; I was using archives on my IMAP accounts at my ISP eating into the storage there and they weren't giving me any indexing. In case you are unaware, you can configure the "Archive" URL on each IMAP account with Thunderbird and set to to be sing, by year, or by year&month. And also with the 'old messages' that are over 30 days or whatever you set or over a certain number of messages in your inbox that you set. Take a look at the setup for yourself. So I set the Dovecot to _also_ have an ARCHIVE tree for the various accounts and set the pointers for archiving there appropriately for each account. Yes, it takes time to set all this up, but it isn't difficult. -- “Reality is so complex, we must move away from dogma, whether it’s conspiracy theories or free-market,” -- James Glattfelder. http://jth.ch/jbg
