Actually, you can download an ISO image, for the Personal version of 9.1.
Actually, I can't. Well, TECHNICALLY I can, have a burner and
everything, but I'm on dialup. It'd take me a couple of weeks.
Still, if I get desperate...

Did you try the safe mode install?
Yes I did, as I mentioned in my first post. The install died at the
same place.

We need more info about your hardware. Size of drive, motherboard, IDE (ATA)/SATA and stuff like that.
All right. It's a Pentium IV, 3 GHz, with 512 megs of ram, on an ASUS P4P800S motherboard. It's got two hard drives, one 120 gigs, one 80 gigs, both IDE according to the Device Manager. It also has a combo CD/DVD burner; no floppy drive, though. It's got an nVidia GeForce FX 5200 video card and SoundMAX integrated digital audio. According to the Device Manager, I have an ACPI Multiprocessor PC and a Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC. I've got a Microsoft Natural keyboard and a Logitech mouse, for what it's worth, and an external modem by Actiontec. If there's anything else you want to know, tell me how to check it!
