In addition, some network applications would not work at all with bonding enabled (specifically Orcad License Server That may be related to the fact that the License server is licensed to the MAC address of one of the network cards.) This is on 64 bit OpenSUSE 10.2 and 64 bit SLES 10.2.
Thanks,
Joel Any services that are aware of the MAC address will need to be reconfigured to the mac address generated by the bond pair. this may also be a part of your other problem of speed. If the network has a lot of clients looking for that original MAC address and they can for some reason see it but it doesn't respond (because the bond pair is responding not the individual cards) then the retries to the original MAC would cause the server to respond slowly to other requests. -- James Tremblay Director of Technology Newmarket School District 213 S.
