Not correct 0,5I x 0,5U = 0.25 power it takes 4 times longer to heat.
If you're making the calculation I thing you are (What is U? Do you mean V?), then it is indeed 1/2, as time is now a factor. By using the diode, you're cutting the duty cycle in half (approximately).
