KMail's smart 'Reply' action replies to list if list headers are present, the mail is not sent To: the reader and Reply-To: is not set, otherwise it replies to Reply-To: or to From:. Which may be a bit of Klugscheisserei* but in my experience it always does what I want it to do except for those who set Reply- To. There are explicit reply actions to reply to the list or to the author if needed as well.
The tb I was using was an old tar.gz which I extracted to my home folder as I didn't have root access on the box I was using at a colleagues desk. I normally use kmail so I took the 'reply list' for granted. It was only when I downloaded the new tb I saw the reply list. The problem with kmail is that it seems to need most of kde installed. I was looking to see if the competition was any more economical. Thanks for all your help and comments.
