Hi, people. Here are two LILO related problems, from Within YaST. I did not write out the exact words, and it was in French, but if I remember correctly, YaST offered the choice of installing LILO 1) in the MBR, 2) boot sector of the root partition, 3) boot sector of the partition, 4) on a diskette. Sorry, I do not remember the exact wording, others might help me at getting this report straight, hopefully. In the French menu, 2) was using the English word `boot' (tss! tss!), while 3) was using it correctly translated as `amorce'.
You seem to be a little confused :)
Hello, Ralf! No problem with that, it's just getting normal at my age! :-)
Yet, maybe not this time :-). Let's see... You wrote:
The English version says this (this matches with the German version): 1) Master boot record 2) Boot sector of the root partition 3) Boot sector of the /boot partition 4) On floppy disc
Unless my French isn't too rusty, this also matches with the French translation: 1) Secteur maître d'amorçage (MBR) 2) Sect. d'amorçage partition racine 3) Sect. d'amorçage partition /boot 4) Sur disquette
As I returned to my friend's home yesterday, I took the time of writing down the French translations for 6.4, as they were displayed by YaST1:
1) Secteur maître d'amorçage "MBR" 2) Secteur boot partition root 3) Secteur d'amorçage de la partition 4) Sur disquette
For me, 2) is bad French[1], even if I understand what it means. Your translation is surely better, but this is not what YaST showed to me, while you suggest it does.
Yes, it was cut'n'paste directly from a running yast. Look like SuSE has updated the text. I am using the German version of SuSE-6.4-0.0 with updates from the SuSE site. May-be this explains the difference. # rpm -q -f /sbin/yast yast-1.05.2-5 Ralf -- Ralf Corsepius Forschungsinstitut fuer Anwendungsorientierte Wissensverarbeitung (FAW) Helmholtzstr. 16, 89081 Ulm, Germany Tel: +49/731/501-8690 mailto:corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de FAX: +49/731/501-999 http://www.faw.uni-ulm.de -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
