The solution to Michael's problem is quite simple. Patrick provided the solution some days back and I also added a comment to it -- and I now have Bitstream Charter in my latest LO (v5.3.3.2) installed on Leap 42.3 which is due out in 5 days.
I thought I made it clear enough that that solution is no better than temporary, only until upgrade to v5.4.x: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/5.4#Removed_configuration_options>> I did intend to anyway. :-p
:-)
Even for <5.4 version of LO it is not a "temporary" fix or solution because all that is required to be done is to use the existing config option in LO and in less than 30 seconds Bitstream Charter becomes available to be selected :-) .
However, I can see the problem caused when something which was automatically availalbe when LO was started suddenly is no longer there. Must be a very scary experience, I dare say. But, as you say, it will be "fixed" when the next version of LO comes out :-). What I wrote is that as of 5.4.x, based on that URL, Patrick's workaround will cease to be a workaround, and the closest thing to a workaround remaining will be to convert type1 Charter to a supported format. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
