/proc/sys/kernel/hotplug is empty lsmod shows usbcore, pl2303 and usbserial loaded, but I had to manually load ov511 ... the webcam doesn't come active and at present I can't test the usb serial port. hald and dbus daemons are running. Perhaps HAL is a last minute change to 9.3 as the admin guide doesn't mention it, it still mentions /sbin/hotplug which is not in any of the packages. /dev/.udevdb hasn't registered any USB devices. Actually, since it is an upgrade, run this
rpm -qa --qf "%{NAME} %{DISTRIBUTION}\n"|grep -v 9.3
Maybe the problem is that some packages from the previous version are hanging around disturbing things?!
