...or install it using the *.run file from the nvidia website. this will also compile the module according to your installed kernel, but it'll do all the work for you. it's sometimes called "installing nvidia proprietary driver the hard way," even though it isn't very hard. you have to have your kernel's source installed though, and need a few basic development packages. you find information about the process in this list & on the openSUSE wiki.
Please do not give bad advice. The Kernel modules on NVIDIAs website should still work fine with the latest 11.3 Update kernel. (KMPs do not require to be updated everytime we release a new kernel, there is KMP symlinking magic making this unnecessary.)
