Some LG monitors have an inbuilt Automatic Standby Mode. Could it be that? There is normally a menu entry for setting it off.
I think it was set to 4 hours, but tomorrow I'll try to set that off. Maybe it did not detect the day activity?
That was it. I happened to be at the machine, typing, when a black box popped up saying that the monitor would switch off in 5 minutes because there was no activity.
So I changed that from 4 hours to off. We'll see if that does the trick.
Funny it does not see the activity. It is a monitor, not a TV...
Is it a second monitor and almost all activity happens on your main monitor? The monitor firmware will be looking for changes in content. If there are no changes, it will trigger standby.
No, single monitor of a secondary machine. My previous desktop machine, with over 10 years of use, set at another location. New monitor, but a refurb.
If you ran a clock, cpu-meter, network-meter, or similar on that monitor, that should be enough change to keep it awake.
Well, I was using the machine and doing things all the morning.
But yeah, I'd turn it off.
