I can't login to xdm after doing an install. I think this may be because i decided to use md5 passwords instead of DES passwords. Can anyone verify this ? I changed the password encryption option in YAST, but I'm not sure if it converts the existing passwords or not. If not, anyone know of an easy way to convert ? Would simply changing my passwords with "passwd" be sufficient you think ? Any other ideas ? I can login fine from the console ... and indeed I can even startx fine from a console session, if i have stopped kdm. cheers, e p.s. anyone know how the suse bootup screen displays the neat green trim and stuff ? you know when all the messages roll by after you have picked your kernl in grub ... is that a kernel patch ? or a grub patch or something ? i have a debian box i would like to get that to work on.
