No need for the entire sources. kernel-default-devel is enough ( apart from the other deps from the 'hard way' What works: Install dkms Enable ( and start ) the dkms service through YaST's services manager Download the latest appropriate NVIDIA....run for your card Run the NVIDIA......run with --dkms option. It will trigger a rebuild of the nvidia kernel modules at a kernel update. On major kernel updates people have reported 1. To need an extra reboot 2.
