Problem is that I am screwed, because I need to have "disableapic" in my append line, as my Motherboard have some "disagreement in opinion" with one of my IDE drives. When I first installed SuSE 8.0 the box started to hang at random and this solved the problem.
You could see if the motherboard manufacturer has a bios update available if you haven't already. Is there a reason you are updating your kernel from 2.4.18? -- -ckm
