What does enigmail in thunderbird say about my email GPG signature, does it verify? If it doesn't, it is a sign that something altered the contents. I don't know, I don't have that plugin.
Another reason for breakage could be that some of the posts in the thread didn't arrive at your side.
They all appear to be arriving if I check the openSUSEmail archive for a post I want to get back to, I never saw one that I didn't already receive although I suppose it's possible, just unlikely. I remember a past thread about other users having thread breakage as well.
