I've been there - didn't like it all that much either. Several possible options: 1. your laptop should have some hotkey to enable and disable the touchpad - if you'Re lucky it works on linux too 2. the touchpad configuration in KDE/Plasma should be able to enable the "typing detection" that should prevent your mistyping from happening 3. lastly, get a laptop mouse, plug it in, and go to the touchpad configuration in Plasma - there's an option to automaticly disable the touchpad as soon as the mouse is plugged in.
