Conclusion: Thunderbird is indeed slow and a memory hog.
I forgot to mention than on start, for an hour or so, Thunderbird stays under 1 gigabyte.
Have you copied existing mail folders into a new Thunderbird instance?
Nope.
It could be the indexer running through archives of mails. Or just that the indexer has got stuck in a loop.
I tried once, then disabled it. It runs high cpu for days. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)
