Hi, I raised this query before, but not sure if I got it handled correctly. On a Suse 10.0 system (also true for SLES 9), I would like to protect some software xorg-x11 (or kernel) from being updated in order to avoid conflicts with the hardware. I did try to invoke yast2 - software - online update, search for x11, and from the YOU Patch option, select Protected - Do Not Modify. I noted however that all the packages on the right panes are grey-out, so suspect the above selection do not take any effect. I also selected yast2 - software - software management - Filter - Search - x11 - selected the package xorg-x11 - right click and set as protected. But clearly the package has been updated in one of the automatic online updates, as the /etc/X11/xorg.conf has been reset, and the display was broken as a result. Can someone give me a definitive way to ensure certain packages can be excluded from automatic updates? Thanks a lot.
