Hi list!
I updated my system via apt dist-upgrade a few days ago. It gave me what seemed a comlpete overhaul of the system, including a new kernel. No errors, no frills. And then a short reboot just to get the kernel up and running.
And now i have the problem with "automunting" USB memorycards.. :(
As i insert the cardreader i get this in /var/log/messages:
Feb 11 13:28:01 sparhawk kernel: usb 1-1.4: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 Feb 11 13:28:01 sparhawk kernel: usb 1-1.4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Feb 11 13:28:01 sparhawk kernel: scsi1 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices Feb 11 13:28:01 sparhawk kernel: usb-storage: device found at 5 Feb 11 13:28:01 sparhawk kernel: usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning Feb 11 13:28:06 sparhawk kernel: Vendor: Generic Model: STORAGE DEVICE Rev: 0100 Feb 11 13:28:06 sparhawk kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 00 Feb 11 13:28:06 sparhawk kernel: sd 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi removable disk sda Feb 11 13:28:06 sparhawk kernel: sd 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0 Feb 11 13:28:06 sparhawk kernel: usb-storage: device scan complete
So far so good! Its detected and apparently correctly recognized.
As i insert the SDcard i get:
I always tell people to insert the card in the reader -first- THEN insert the card reader. Try it that way and let us know the results.

Identical problem: This is /ver/log/messages when i insert the reader with the SDcard allready in place: Feb 11 14:13:08 sparhawk kernel: usb 1-1.4: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 6 Feb 11 14:13:08 sparhawk kernel: usb 1-1.4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Feb 11 14:13:08 sparhawk kernel: scsi2 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices Feb 11 14:13:08 sparhawk kernel: usb-storage: device found at 6 Feb 11 14:13:08 sparhawk kernel: usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: Vendor: Generic Model: STORAGE DEVICE Rev: 0100 Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 00 Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: SCSI device sda: 59776 512-byte hdwr sectors (31 MB) Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: sda: Write Protect is off Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: sda: Mode Sense: 02 00 00 00 Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: sda: assuming drive cache: write through Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: SCSI device sda: 59776 512-byte hdwr sectors (31 MB) Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: sda: Write Protect is off Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: sda: Mode Sense: 02 00 00 00 Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: sda: assuming drive cache: write through Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: sda: sda1 Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: sd 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi removable disk sda Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: sd 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0 Feb 11 14:13:13 sparhawk kernel: usb-storage: device scan complete Feb 11 14:13:15 sparhawk hal-subfs-mount[7158]: SYMLINKS:: disk/by-id/usb-Generic_STORAGE_DEVICE disk/by-path/usb-0x05e3-0x0705:0:0:0 Feb 11 14:13:15 sparhawk hal-subfs-mount[7158]: MOUNT_POINT:: /media/usbdisk Feb 11 14:13:15 sparhawk hal-subfs-mount[7158]: MOUNTPOINT:: /media/usbdisk Feb 11 14:13:15 sparhawk hal-subfs-mount[7158]: Collected mount options and Called(8192) /bin/mount -t subfs -o fs=floppyfss,sync,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,utf8=true /dev/sda1 "/media/usbdisk" Feb 11 14:13:15 sparhawk hal-subfs-mount[7158]: By hald-subfs-mount created dir /media/usbdisk got removed. -- /Rikard ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- email : rikard.j@rikjoh.com web : http://www.rikjoh.com mob : +46 (0)736 19 76 25 ------------------------ Public PGP fingerprint ---------------------------- < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >
