After a half-dozen 10.1 installs and managing to get YOU to see the available patches, I've now hit a wall. No matter what I do (including following some of the earlier advice here on this list) I can't get YOU to kickstart itself after a fresh install on a dual Opteron box.
What's the latest wisdom to get the patches? The install is from a boxed 10.1 dvd. I even registered it and opened a service ticket but haven't heard from Novell yet.
Hi Folks, This is a follow up on my problem kickstarting YOU to download patches after a fresh install of 10.1. Novell support gave me this link to try: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:ZEN-Update_System_problem_in_10.1 However, I had success before getting their message. This is what worked in this case: Upon opening Yast2/Installation Source/ the only url listed was for the installation DVD. The "Refresh" value was "Off". I toggled the value to "On" with the "Refresh On or Off" button, then quit Yast2 completely. I then reentered Yast2/Installation Source/ and it had picked up a "YUM" entry all on its own (I don't recall the exact entry, the server is off-net in a secure lab now). Now, YOU saw the patches and all were loaded upon the regular iterative install process. All I can say is that this worked on this machine at this time, the process was not required on other 10.1 installs. Go figure... Bottom line is, if there is only one entry (DVD) in the Software Catalog screen, Online Update won't update.
