Since I think I have solved (mostly) my kdevelop problem, I think I'll wait for the next kde version (SuSE rpms) before uninstalling & reinstalling (just being lazy)! I did uninstall qt3-beta (just cleaning up - too many qt versions!), also uninstalled and reinstalled kdevelop. What I found was that kpackage said that there was an unsatisfied dependency for kdevelop. It said that libmng.so.1 was missing. It was not since I found it in /usr/lib, so I just made a link in /opt/kde2/lib to the libmng.so.1 in /usr/lib. I then ran kdevelop setup (as root), and when I got to the part where it indexes the docs there was no problem. It also then accepted /opt/kde2/ as the appropriate kdelibs-doc path. HOWEVER, when I logged in as myself and ran the kdevelop setup, there were still a few problems. When I started the indexing step, it gave a warning message - something about "localhost" (it went by too fast to see just what it said). Then it proceeded to create the index. This took 30 - 40 minutes (this step as root took a couple of seconds). I did get a number of "file not found" messages during the process, but it finished with "completed successfully". In Tools/Configure, I had to change the kde docs path to match that which was automatically discovered when setting it up as root. It seems to be happy so far.... It was so late at this point, I didn't try to actually DO anything in kdevelop - that's the next step. :) Mike ------------------------------------------------------ Cleary_Mike@emc.com ------------------------------------------------------ "A nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse." - anon -----Original Message----- From: THOMAS ADAM [mailto:1adamt71@solent.ac.uk] Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2001 7:20 AM To: Cleary_Mike@emc.com Cc: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: Re: RE: [SLE] Kdevelop Hi Mike,
Thanks Thomas for the quick response!
things up by first installing the kde.org rpms.......? Just a guess, but I'm grasping at straws here. :) Maybe I should completely uninstall all the kde stuff and start over w/
You're welcome :-) the SuSE
2.2.1 rpms.....
Thats not a bad idea Mike. If I were you, I'd put the RPM's
on that SuSE distribute since they are compiled with the
SuSE platform in mind (and thus know where all the files
are to be put).
The ones from "kde.org" might be putting their files in
different locations.
So, my advice would be to uninstall all the rpms
from "kde.org" and install the ones from the SuSE Cd :-)
Let me know how you get on, eh?

Thomas Adam
