But, straight after the previous message, when I try to use the usb device like my mobile as usb with VMWare, it then issues the message:
********* Message ************* The specified device appears to be claimed by another driver (cdc_acm) on the host operating system which means that the device may be in use. VMware Workstation cannot safely take control of the device until the host driver is unloaded. ********* End *****************
If I unload the cdc_acm, I suspect that I will loose all usb devices like my mouse as you did. Fortunately, unloading is blocked because the device is busy (with mouse I presume).
Now, I either use a USB device in Linux or in VMWare, but not in both, interchangeably.
How do you get to use it interchangeably when the cdc_acm is loaded?
The short idea is that I have no idea. I have never used a mobile phone in Linux or VMWare. In googling cdc_acm, I find that it is the module for usb modems. Is that how you wish to use it in VMware? If it is connected in linux and the vmware networking is properly set up, wouldn't it still provide connectivity to the VM?
