Everything works fine for myself and one of the users. For the other user Firefox cannot be started and comes up with a message the Firefox is already running and it must be closed first. Firefox is installed globally.
Firefox uses lockfiles to allow only one firefox process to occur at a time. There are at least two types of lockfiles which can be deleted should Firefox lock up in the way in which you have seen. They are located at: /home/<user>/.mozilla/firefox/<profile>.default/lock and /home/<user>/.mozilla/firefox/<profile>.default/.parentlock where <user> is the username in question and <profile> is a long unique string of characters.
