Low Level Format ________________
~ please, what does this mean ?
It's the process of preparing the magnetic surface of a disk so it can be used. When the disk leaves the factory the surface is full of random 1s and 0s. During a low level format the disk surface is divided into sectors, the contents are all zeroed, error correction data is put in place and so on. When that's done the disk can be logically partioned, then the operating system can do a high level format (i.e. make a file system). -- 9:47am up 3 days, 1:26, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.00
