I joined a computer club that is 98% windoze oriented and would like to demonstrate linux and show the club what linux is all about. I talked about linux at the club and everyone thinks micro$soft is the only way to go. We have a VGA projector at our club and I would like to bring my computer to the club and demonstrate linux. Does anyone have an outline or a presentation so I can show linux? I use the kde desktop and would like to have some suggestions on what to show and I would compile them and put them on the internet. Maybe someone could write a how-to on demonstrating linux.
I guess you need to know what _you_ want it to do. If you want to replace the desktop Windows machines, stop trying: you've already lost. You specify they think "Microsoft is the only way to go", but where? If it's the server arena, they they will be impressed. Bring in some cheapo Pentium I with 32MB of RAM and set up a file server, DHCP server, print server, and everything else you can throw at it (no X). Your presentation could be on what corporations are already using Linux (Amazon.com, weather, com, google.com, etc.) That should be impressive. Then get some monster with a lot of RAM (128MB or more) and install all the KDE2 / X you can get. Make sure you have a fractal generator in there. :) Show how fast Konqueror is... This was just off the top of my head, I bet you could think of much more :) -- noodlez: Karol Pietrzak PGP KeyID: 0x3A1446A0
