It was found that in the original bug, which was also caused by drm-kmp-default, that the more strain on x the more likely a gpu hang. I could work in xfce without a problem but in plasma5 as soon as thunderbirds new mail pop up appeared I had a hang. If you reduce your system memory it's more likely to occur, use kernel line mem=1G to boot up with less memory if you want to check if it's fixed. That made hangs with xfce as well.
Yes, I read that in the comments. I can try. Someone wrote a "needinfo" from me, but it is empty, no question asked. Also, I just found out that Mesa-dri is not installed.
