Sylvanus, Try dropping back to the last SuSE approved kernel, 2.4.20-96 from their update site. It cured some problems I was having with graphics and I suspect it might with you as well. I am guessing you are using Mantel's latest kernel?

Thanks for your help I will now avoid "mantel-kernel" for my main machine.
Can anyone suggest an apt-get "sources.list" which uses only SuSe rpms?
I have had very good luck with the entry below. I DO not put mantel's directory or suse-people in because 9-10 RPM's in these directories are test RPM's and prone to breaking things. I only install RPM's from these directories if I know the packager and email them first. rpm ftp://mirrors.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/ SuSE/8.2-i386 base update kde mozilla suser-tcousin packman packman-i686 security xfree86 usr-local-bin -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.
