Tried booting with options "plymouth.enable=0 splash=verbose intel_idle.max_cstate=7", no impact on black screen. If you can do this ^, your system did not "books immediately to a completely black screen".
That is GRUB, not the OS.
Please better describe what you see as we cannot see your screen(). Did you try additionally adding "nomodeset" to the kernel boot line?
Adding "nomodeset" does avoid the black-screen. Now it is left sitting at "Loading initial ramdisk..." from which it never proceeds using the 4.5.0-4.gece3ff2-default kernel. The 4.2.1 kernel books without issue - except, of course, the touchpad does not work. -- Adam Tauno Williams mailto:awilliam@whitemice.org GPG D95ED383 Systems Administrator, Python Developer, LPI / NCLA -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
