I get a similar warning on an older machine but the warning is not about being unable to find the module hw_random.ko. Instead the warning is about being unable to find the hardware random number generator that hw_random.ko supports. I assume the machine does not have such a thing ..
Are you sure that it cannot find hw_random.ko ?
See /usr/src/linux/Documentation/hw_random.txt.
Hmm, you're right. I didn't pay attention in detail to the message; I thought the system simply couldn't find the module. Here's the error message from /var/log/boot.msg: modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting hw_random (/lib/modules/2.6.8-24.10-smp/kernel/drivers/char/hw_random.ko): No such device
Do you know exactly what hardware it's looking for? Because gx280 is a fairly newer model (P4 3GHz with HT).
No I have only just noticed this and have not investigated further. Paul H -- Paul Hewlett (Linux #359543) Email:`echo az.oc.evitcaten@ttelweh | rev` Tel: +27 21 852 8812 Cel: +27 72 719 2725 Fax: +27 86 672 0563 --
