I have not worked with or setup a network before and I am having trouble determining what programs should be installed. I am trying to set up a network as follows: 1 computer with Linux installed, 1 computer with Windos95 installed and a network printer. Each computer only has the one OS installed. What I need to know is: 1. From the Suse6.3 distro, what programs need to be installed. I don't really want to install more than I have to. 2. Since the OS's are on different computers, is Samba necessary on the Linux box to access the files on the Windos95 box. 3. Would want to access the internet at times from the Windos95 box through the modem in the Linux box. Normal access would be from the Linux box. Internet access would be started from the Linux box. 4. Both boxes being able to print to the printer. 5. Does the Windos box need a IP address or can it be accessed by computer name. I do not have a Windos95 book and it's help system sucks on this matter. Please feel free to email me direct if you feel it is necessary or the answer becomes too long. :). I feel at this point that I am going to need step by step directions to get anywhere.
