I am having a major problem getting this wireless adapter to work under 12.2 with a network that is using WPA2-PSK.
Basically, I can not get connected to this network. Third time is the charm? Hopefully this will help.........
YAST2 sees it and configures it with driver rtl8192cu. And is configured with WPA-PSK and the right key but I still can not connect.
Other laptops with the built-in WIFI works with the same configuration (of course, different driver)
I even downloaded, compiled and installed the driver from RealTech (sp?) website - driver 8192cu - and still no connection. The rtl8192cu needs firmware. Did you install the kernel-firmware package ? That should provide /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8192cufw.bin.
Yes, the kernel-firmware is installed.
If that doesn't solve your problem ,please have a look into /var/log/messages and show us the relevant messages from the8192cu driver. Magically, somehow I played with enough settings, it is now working.
Can the network settings get confused then finally do the right thing ?
