IIANW, the behaviour is indeed changed, in that there no longer exists an fstab entry for removable media like optical drives or flash drives. When you insert the medium into the drive, the system should automatically recognize it and mount it under /media, but under the volume label of the medium. Please check whether this is true or not for you. You can have SUSE 10.1 mount the drives to fixed mountpoints.
